Art As The Secret Healing Ingredient

A Moment with Luxury Skincare Entrepreneur

CYGALLE DIAS

By: Terry Doe

Artist Oliwia Beila, 2019
Have you ever had a spa experience? The kind that’s laden with everything from candles and meditational music, to heated pools and at-the-ready therapists appearing the minute you wonder, “Oh, it might be nice to get a massage”; with everything in your view as picturesque as a painting by Monet or Turner.
Skincare Entrepreneur Cygalle DiasIf you’ve ever had one of these supremely luxe experiences, chances are CYGALLE DIAS had something to do with it., Esteemed as one of today’s leading luxury holistic Lifestyle, Wellness, and skincare Entrepreneurs, Diaz is not simply recognized for her savvy and out-of-the-box business acumen and marketing techniques, she is the creator and founder of perhaps the first truly successful luxury holistic lifestyle brands, Cygalle Healing Spa – a lifestyle experience and get-a-way originally started at Casa Di Campo in the Dominican Republic, which now makes around the world.
Moreover, Dias is the creator and founder of Cygalle Beauty, a highly successful right arm of Cygalle Healing Spa (and the go-to holistic beauty and skincare line praised by everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow, Leonardo DiCaprio, P. Diddy, Rosario Dawson, Kanye West, and so many more).
For Dias, the arts are a foundation for Cygalle Healing Spa; and she always incorporates visual art as inspiration for her spa’s and treatments. Whether it is the design and layout of her zen healing retreats and getaways, or directly collaborating with artists to integrate their works within the spaces of her healing haven’s, Cygalle Healing Spa and Cygalle Beauty are truly immersive artistic healing events. The entrepreneur even looks to the history of the healing arts for inspiration in the creation of her popular skincare products.

Cygalle Healing Spa

Case in point: Dias launched a line of Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp infused skincare products this past fall, which have already been receiving extraordinary reviews for their effectiveness and healing qualities. Using her own spirituality as a foundation- and drawing from the principles of the Ying and Yang, the healing minerals of the Dead Sea in Israel, and literally including oxygen (yes H20) as a mineral within the products and the packaging, Dias went further in seeking inspiration from the works of contemporary German abstract artist OLIWIA BEILA.
Whilst formulating and creating her Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp line, the gentrepreneur found herself constantly returning to the artists deeply vibrant, colorful works –
“I found such peace whenever I looked at these beautiful art pieces” –
So moved was she by Beila’s works that she reached out to the artist and the two starting corresponding. Coincidentally, Dias and Beila are now collaborating on a new spa experience for 2020 involving Biela’s distinctive abstract pieces.

We met with Dias at her beautiful penthouse apartment on Manhattans Upper West Side to talk skincare, Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp, and art as her secret ingredient:

Terry Doe: You have over 20 years experience as a luxury holistic and wellness entrepreneur? How did you land in this very specific niche as a career?

Cygalle Dias: I have a fear of chemicals, and have always been passionate about sharing my knowledge about holistic lifestyle and natural living to ensure the best health, beauty, and longevity.

Terry Doe: Has art always been an important part of your life and profession?

Cygalle Dias: Yes, I have always been very inspired by visual art and design. I incorporate an artistic and stylized approach to my brand.

Terry Doe: Have you collaborated with any visual artists previously for Cygalle Healing Spa? If so, how?

Cygalle Dias: I sometimes include art into my experiential events. Just recently with at Fashion Week and the Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards, an artist designed a brand wall and created art pieces that complimented the aesthetic of the space to reflect holistic beauty.

Terry Doe: Why do you feel art is such an integral part of wellness?

Cygalle Dias: Wellness encompasses physical, mental, and emotional vibrations. Our philosophy at Cygalle Beauty and Cygalle Healing Spa is to blend all of these elements seamlessly into its formula and rituals.

“Art itself is a healing experience perhaps greater than any other; and to be able to find inspiration from as well as incorporate it within whatever I do is not only rewarding for me, but it encapsulates what it is to be in the wellness space”.
Terry Doe: How you do find art has healing qualities?
Cygalle Dias: It inspires and provokes the senses. It engages and spurs emotionally connection, whether it’s happiness, love, or sadness. Art broadens your cultural knowledge, visual aesthetic, and it educates; it is a visual messenger.

Terry Doe: How did you come to be involved with Oliwia Beila as an artist?

Cygalle Dias: I originally saw her work at an event. I find the energy that exudes from each of her creations similar to my emotional personality.

Terry Doe: You are already well-known for your natural skincare line. Why the decision to develop a line of Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp products?

Cygalle Dias: I have been an advocate of Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp for over 20 years, and understand the medical qualities within the ingredients of the plant. I have always had the ability to forecast and launch trends, and always wanted to have a Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp Skincare line. With all the research and developments on Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp so far, this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Terry Doe: What about Beila’s work has poured through in your work with the spa and your work with the spa and skincare line?

Cygalle Dias: Her artwork is incredibly impacting; and complements my personality
and visual aesthetic. Her energy is also as exuberant as her work, and she practices natural therapies in her lifestyle. We both believe in Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp and living a natural, organic lifestyle.

Terry Doe: Can you tell us more about the project you two are working on together?

Cygalle Dias: Yes, we are now creating an experiential event for New York Fashion Week. She is creating personalized visual presentations to be displayed with my products.

Terry Doe: What artists, dead or alive, have you been most influenced by in your life and career?

Cygalle Dias: I am most inspired by Asian art, and am a collector works by Hiroe Kittaka, Makiko Naruse, and Seji Yamasawa. I am also a collector of vintage fashion photography.
